CONSENSUS & GUIDELINE SUBCOMMITTEE The vision of the Consensus & Guideline subcommittee is to advance MIS through improvement in quality and increased uptake of clinical practice guidelines in Europe and globally. RESEARCH PORTFOLIO SUBCOMMITTEE The vision of the Research Portfolio subcommittee is to advance the scope, applications and quality of minimally invasive surgery through support for translational research and critical appraisal of process, technique and technology used in MIS throughout Europe and globally. After years of valuable contribution Ferdinando Agresta (Italy) left the committee this year. WORD FROM THE CHAIR RESEARCH COMMITTEE For the research committee, 2019 was a busy year of awarding three additional grants. We are continuing with the research talent academy to mentor and train the next generation in research methodology. That our efforts are worthwhile proves the following word of thanks that we received from one of our mentee’s. Additionally, we have published the consensus confe- rence on acute Diverticulitis, which was successfully presented to over 4000 people at UEG. Since its publication, the manuscript has been downloaded 9000 times. The Research committee has also contributed to the consensus conference on morbid obesity and was awarded a UEG grant to support a new consensus process to develop AGREE II extension for surgical guidelines, which is progressing very well. I would like acknowledge the hard work of the com- mittee members and the subcommittee leads Stavros Antoniou, Sheraz Marker and Tan Arulampalam. Prof. Nader Francis Chairman Research Committee
